Looking Glass - Brandy

Guess who's obsessing over Gotg, again? I've waited three years for this movie to come out and, damn, I loved every single minute of it. I would never have thought it would have been even better than the first one!

So, here we have Quill as a child when he first joined the Ravagers. The kid was probably really lost and homesick.

Hello there! You have been visited by a Critique Ninja! We stealthily roam the site, looking to leave thoughtful and useful criticism, as per the spirit of CRITmas. Mind if I just hop on to business, then? Just swooping in and out again - that is the Ninja way...!

First things first: this piece has so much things to love - the light on him that's painted in so exquisitely, the moody atmosphere... It makes me regret having to bring up the following:
I think his proportions might be off. His head, to me, looks too large. How much exactly depends on his exact age, which I am not sure about.
I took the liberty to rustle up a link which explains what I mean: www.drawinghowtodraw.com/stepb…
As is, his head-to torso ratio would be nearly that of a one-year-old, which I don't think can be right.

I also think his eye is a bit large and deep-set, but that one I find harder to judge.

I hope I wasn't being too harsh, because I still think this piece's rendering is masterful. Better realism would have caused this to have such an impact, I'm sure!

Wishing you the best of wishes for the New Year,
Regards,
